Xbox Live - Visa Check Card - Authorizat ...

Long story short, I own a Visa Check card, and I%26#39;d like to purchase a variety of things on XBL, however everytime I attempt to purchase points I get a ''authorization denied, or failed, or something on those lines. What is causing this? A fellow member on the forums suggests I buy something else online, anything from anywhere..something cheap. Then it shold allow me to buy things on XBL. Has your card been activated. Maybe something has happened with your card, I had a similar problem once and i phoned the credit card company and there was a problem with their authentication system it started working a day or so later.
Make sure you card is activated, you normally have to call a number to activate it or use it at an ATM or something.  Also make sure all the billing information is correct. If all that doesn%26#39;t work just go out and buy a couple 1600 point MS point cards, that should cover you for a while.
The advice that other people have listed here is fairly good. This isn't something that those of us on the forums are going to be able to help you with. However, I think that the first course of action is to call your bank before Microsoft. You never know, you may be the victim of identity theft or there may be something else wrong with your account.



Secure your money first, then you can get Microsoft to help you figure out how to spend it.
Sounds like the card is not activated or its not enough money in your account. Remember check cards are representive of the amount of currency in your actual account.

the same thing happened to me.. i called microsoft and they said its a problem they  are gonna fix.. meanwhile u can buy the card with ur microsoft points on gamestop or bestbuy
I am pretty sure that you can%26#39;t use chech cards... It%26#39;s gotta be a credit card.  Call 18004myxbox for help.
I have the same exact problem! I have activated my card, tried another card, called my bank, called Microsoft etc etc. So i got through for the 4th time with a rep overseas (outsourcing) and they told me they have no idea what the problem is and that i should just go to the store and buy a card manually. That's totally fine, but this is a bad bug they need to fix. Hell, just for sheets and giggles I opened up a WAMU account and activated a new mastercard and even THAT didn't work. Freakin lame.
