Wow, this is a new low for paid online s ...

So, I'm primarily a PC gamer, but I do own a 360 because my friends are mainly 360 guys and for some exlusives and such.So because I'm a PC gamer, I'm pretty used to getting my online play for free (well, aside from the ISP, which my parents pay for anyway). However, my XBL Gold exipred back in February and due to World in Conflict, BF2, and other such games, it wasn't a huge deal. I have an 8800GTS and there wasn't much out on the 360 that interested me. No big deal right? However, as a long-time fan of the Battlefield series I was looking forward to Bad Company (even though it's a simpler, smaller game), and with the destruction features, new mode (plus Conquest coming soon), and other such features, who wouldn't be?So today comes and I hear from my PS3-owning friend that the BC demo is out on PSO (which updates on Thursday), so I decide to look for it on XBLM, and there it is. However, it's for Gold subscribers only.Naturally, I'm pretty upset by this. Now, I could understand if the SP portion was free and it wouldn't let me play on XBL, but the fact that it wouldn't even let me download the demo is total bull. Seeing as how I won't even have to pay them to play the full version of the SP game, there's really no justification for this.Even worse, I tried using a free trial that came with Halo 3 when I got it (and was still subscribed, and thus didn't need it). However, apparently that's only a gameplay trial and not a two-day Gold period, despite what the thing claims (it says GOLD TRIAL on it...).Any word as to if it's coming for Silver any time? I guess it's not a huge deal because BC comes out five days after my school lets out, so I can pick it up a little less than a week after school (which is when I was planning on renewing). Point is, the reason there even IS a demo is to gain popularity for your product and how the hell are you going to do that by limiting the number of people who can receive the demo? Wow, this is a new low for paid online s ...
the limitations placed on silver accounts are there to give more incentive for people to upgrade to gold. as for not ever being able to download the demo, dont worry. I am fairly certain that having a gold membership just allows you earlier access to demos. you should be able to download it with a silver account, you just cant do it as soon as a demo arrives on XBL.Wow, this is a new low for paid online s ...

[/QUOTE]This is the standard, payed subscribers get demos first, silver get it a week later, however the PS3 is apparently taking on the same concept with exclusive demos for their new subscription service
Gold subscribers pay a price for a premium service. Why shouldn't we get things first? It's our membership fees that make XBL so awesome for everybody - including the cheapskates who won't pay $4 per month. Live Silver members get a huge amount of stuff for free, courtesty of the Gold members - stop whining about the one thing you don't get. In fact, you will get the demo, just one week after the Gold members. Is that so bad considering it's free?
Just so you know, it will come to silver no more than a week later.

Stop being so conceited, he said he was mostly a PC guy.

And it's not a case of being conceited, it just really gets on my nerves when people moan about how crappy a service is when it's free. What is MS supposed to do? Pay people for signing up for Silver? And what does being a PC gamer have to do with anything? I am too, and I enjoy playing games online for free on my PC, but the 360 is a different ecosystem and I don't see what the problem is with paying to play. It's not like MS tries to hide the fact.
your 48 hours of gold do not start until you sign out and sign back in. do so, and you can download the demo.
