BFBC weapons help

so i just downloaded the demo and i was playing the multiplayer, i decided i wanted to try a different assault rifle so once i had died i went to the class selection menu but i couldnt change the rifle i pressed left and right and all that but it was still the aug. anyone know how to change the weapons? btw in the rank thing it said rank 77 next rank 200thanksBFBC weapons help
