I don't care about anyone elses rank, I just try to get as high as possibleAnyone care about online rankings?
For example: hitting general in Halo 3, or hitting 10th Prestige in COD4. Does anyone REALLY care, or do you just play to have fun?I personally could care less, I have the ''bar of shame'' in halo 3 and I don't care if some 13 year old kid from kentucky calls me a noob. If he is the one to care about what my rank is, he has no life. How about you guys? i know it's a weird question.
People aren't high ranked in Halo because of their skill. If you like team games, how you rank up depends on your team. Sure, you contribute to it, but if 3 other people are just providing targets for the other team, it won't help.Or you just play Social a lot, and haven't gotten to a higher rank
No!!!!I don't care.
Ranks have lost their meaning. Ranks now are just a show of how MUCH you play and not a symbol of how well you play. I still enjoy reaching the highest ranks in games that i enjoy though. I guess they do it so that not as good gamers can still reach levels like everyone else. It just takes longer.
I would assume for perhaps the older generation, attaining a specific rank can be construed as a personal gaming achievement as opposed to some who deem rank as a means to boast or verbally attack and/or degrade those whom are not as highly ranked.Personally, I view rank as insignificant in the greater scheme of things. However, it does hold weight to a certain extent at least to those whom are competitive by nature. The key is to view your rank accordingly and act in a manner that is conducive with sportsman like behavior.Unfortunately, the live community is a melting pot and you will experience the insolent chatter and abuse from individuals whom have no clue what ''sportsman like behavior'' is and moreover could care less.
I care about online rankings but only in games that I care ABOUT. With a good majority of my Xbox 360 games I just finish the games and get most of the achievements (some achievements are pretty stupid, like in Arkadian Warriors killing 100 enemies with exploding pots) and then replay the main story again if I feel like it. But if a game is a part of a long-running series I enjoy or is a game I am very good at and have invested alot of time learning about, I will try to get high on the leaderboard or increase my ''truskill'' rank.

But yes , i also dont call people names if they have an extremely high/low rank.
I don't care about it.
The only time i ever care about my ranks is when you unlock something for reaching certain ranks. Like COD4, you unlick certain things depending on your rank. other then that i could care less. I didnt even make lvl 55 on COD4 because i stopped playing, but i would have never gon prestige. Whats the point, i worked all that time to get the guns and perks that i wanted, then all of a sudden there gone because i want to look cool with a different symbol next to my name? Same reason i could care less about playing ranked in Gears of war. its alot more fun on player matches and you dont gain anything from playing ranked except some dumb stats and achievments.
I care about online rankings but only in games that I care ABOUT.
Exactly. I'm very high on the leaderboards in Team Fortress. That's the only game I spend a great deal of time playing online, thus, it's the only one I care about.
When I'm looking at a new game and I think about getting it.I don't go buy games by online rating and I just keep it in mind. Other than that I don't care!
I don't really care that much about online rankings now. In games like Halo 3 or COD4, I just want to have fun, try to do well, and help my team win. Ranks will just show how well you've done throughout your multiplayer game. Concerning Halo 3, there are a lot of lower rank players who do very well (whether it would be one's second account or if they are new to the game). So an online ranking doesn't accurately reflect their real skill.

But i play prestige in COD4 so i keep having something to work towards. If i just stayed at 55 I probably wouldnt play COD as much
Im not a nerd, so I could care less
i realy don't care, i just play ranked because thats where most of the people r playing. i don't care i'm happy if i do i'm just here to have fun.

Same here. I just play for fun and see how high I can get my rank to before I get bored and stop.
No i don't really care, but i do have fun getting my ranks up and it's useually pretty addicting. And i always feels good getting a rank you've been working towards for a while.
I don't play much online and I definately don't care about my ranking but for a day or so I was like the 52nd ranked player in Beautiful Katamari and this made me very happy and then I stopped playing.
Yes I do. It;s actually fun ranking up in online shooters.
