Yes, I believe they are becoming far too easy. It seems, at least to me, that games are being developed to give an experience while removing the challenge. Personally, I would prefer both. Ninja Gaiden was the last game to geniunely kick the crap out of me on a standard difficulty........NG 2 is now doing a good job of that.:DAre games getting too easy? (Poll)
Yes, they sure as hell are. That's why games like Half Life 2, Ninja Gaiden 2, and even GTA 4 are welcome games in my house. And ignore the Lego Indiana Jones in my gamertag.. easy but ADORABLE!
i think not the game geting easy just you get stronger 8)
i was hoping for NG2 but it was easy for me :?
I never thought games being easy or hard. To me, it's a matter of being boring or fun.
I'm not too concerned with a game's difficulty as long as it doesn't hinder it from being a fun experience.
Really? I am pumping out combos all ove rthe placed and getting owned lol. The hardest enemy I have faced thus far is those Gosh Darn* dogs with the swords....I MEAN, COME ON!!!!!!!Have you played in harder difficulty? If so, is it a major difference?
i think it goes both ways. think back to games that you grew up with. when i was young, i played the Mario Bros games, and Super Mario World, when it came out. i actually dusted it off the other day. its amazing how far games have come since then. So i think part of it has to do with getting used to these games, the other part is that some of them, in face, ARE too easy. Halo and COD were pretty easy for me. granted, i didn't beat them on legendary and veteran, respectively, but proved little challenge. other games i have yet to come close to beating; GTA, all the Orange Box games, Bioshock (yeah, i know...)
Play ninja gaiden 2 and then ask that question..

The default difficulties are easier than it used to be, but I think that might not be a bad thing. I prefer a challenge, but I think it is probably better to have more games that have easy-normal-hard-very hard options than it is to have a bunch of games like Battletoads or Super Ghouls N' Ghosts or some of the old arcade stuff like Robotron or Gun.Smoke. That way you can make your game have a difficulty level for everyone. Or do it like Super Mario Galaxy did it where it was extremely easy to get 60 stars and see the ending but a lot harder to get all the stars. Don't get me wrong, I love the old-school challenge but I'm not sure it makes sense to make them like that anymore. I got my 360 sometime around February 1 and since then I feel like I've definitely gotten my fill of challenge out of CoD4 veteran, Halo 3 legendary, Orange Box's harder difficulties and Portal challenges, and N+, which is in my opinion very hard to complete on its default difficulty. I expect Ninja Gaiden II's harder difficulties to do that too. Achievements can also add to the challenge. So I think challenge is still out there to be found, it's just not in the same way that it used to be.
I believe that games difficulty are staying consistent. I think that the average age of gamers is just going up along with their skill level, making games seem easier than they were 15 years ago when we were playing Super Mario. On that same note, old games had crappier controls making them seem more difficult. Remember trying to jump and land on those little single blocks in the original Super Mario Bros?
I was thinking about this same thing the other day. Halo 3 is pethetic. Halo 2 is a lot harder to play, I tried it the other day. On top of that, try playing MOH: Frontline, jeez, that's almost impossible if your used to modern games. You have a point, games really are getting easy. I hear Ninja Gaiden is pretty hard, I oughtta take a look at that.
I do feel that some games are easier to finish than before. I think you're only complaining because you're finishing your games within a 2/3 day period. I would suggest spreading it out a bit. Play an hour here and there. I have no other choice but to play an hour here and there due to having a 2 year old and wife. It benefits me because in the end when I'm done with a title, I don't feel as if I rushed through it. I actually have time to enjoy it.
I certainly think games are getting easier, I complete them quicker than i used to
Old games also had factors aside from the actual gameplay that helped make them hard, like no checkpoints, bottomless pits, one-hit-you-die/three-lives-game-over, things like that. Put some of those things in today's games... imagine how much harder CoD4 would be with no checkpoints, or three-and-out unless you score high enough to get a 1up. Or if you put those things in a game like Devil May Cry 3 or Ninja Gaiden Black, wow how tough would those games be. In turn, put no bottomless pits and savepoints/unlimited lives in Super Mario Bros. and imagine how easy it would be. The gameplay and AI today is beyond the old games but there's a lot more room for error because those elements have been eliminated.
I think they are getting easier. I think all games should go from p*ss easy to nightmare in Doom style difficulty :D It would ensure there was something for everyone in there :)

I find games are getting easier for me. I have found that some recent games have definitely lost the challenge, and that is all I really want. I don't want a game that I can complete after 6 hour gameplay becuase it wasn't hard enough. I would prefer a challenging game that took me 20 hours to complete.
last challenge i had was mass effect and before that was loz tp, i just stick to online really
